A discogram, also known as discography, is an imaging test that examines the intervertebral discs of the spine to determine if there is any damage to one or more of these structures. It is typically reserved for individuals who have been experiencing long-lasting pain without sufficient relief from conventional treatments. Unlike a physical examination, a discogram can provide an inside look of the spine to pinpoint the level of damage and location of a patient's pain. It is an advanced tool that our skilled physicians at Tricity Pain Associates take full advantage of to provide outstanding medical care to those who have been experiencing chronic back pain. Contact our office in Carrollton, Prosper, McKinney, or Irving, TX to see if this diagnostic exam is right for you. We look forward to serving you.

A discogram is performed on-site at our medical facility in about 30 – 60 minutes, depending on the number of discs that are being evaluated. At the start of your exam, we will have you lie comfortably on your stomach on an x-ray table and inject the contrast dye in the designated disc(s). State-of-the-art x-ray technology is then used to take pictures of your spinal column to assess whether there are any fractures or damage. After a short monitoring period, you will be free to return home to your usual activities. You may experience mild soreness at or around the injection sites, but this is normal.
A discography utilizes innovative technology that has enabled us to properly diagnose the source of a patient's pain to provide the necessary care for much-needed relief. Call Tricity Pain Associates in Carrollton, Prosper, McKinney, or Irving, TX to learn more.
