About Steroid Injections
An epidural steroid injection (ESI) is an anti-inflammatory drug that is administered to help diminish pain. There are a variety of steroids, but regardless of the strain, a numbing agent, such as lidocaine, is generally incorporated in the formula as well. An ESI is typically recommended for men and women who are experiencing severe or chronic pain as a result of an injury, narrow spine, or slipped disc. It is also an ideal treatment for those who are not ready for more invasive treatments, such as spinal cord stimulation or surgery. Our compassionate and gifted team of medical professionals at Tricity Pain Associates in Carrollton, Prosper, and McKinney, TX is exceptionally trained in pain management care and has helped thousands of men and women in the Greater Dallas area.

All steroid injections are administered on-site at our care facility and typically take about 10 – 15 minutes from start to finish. On the day of your appointment, a live x-ray machine will be used to guide the placement of the needle so that the steroid is injected safely in the correct position. After your procedure, you will be monitored for a few minutes and then released to go home. We do suggest that patients plan ahead to have someone drive them home after their procedure as they should refrain from driving for the next 12 hours. It's normal to experience mild soreness after your procedure, but you should contact us immediately if you notice any adverse symptoms.
If you are not ready for a more invasive treatment, like back surgery, an epidural steroid injection may bring the comfort you need to regain optimal function. Contact Tricity Pain Associates in Carrollton, Prosper, McKinney, or Irving, TX today to schedule a private consultation to learn more.
